Have you ever heard of the term, "Cloud Computing?" Ethos Prime, like many others, are currently engineering our products to take advantage of the direction this industry is headed. We have brought our first application into this environment, and not in a small way. We have opened the doors for businesses of any size to operate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications using Cloud Computing.
Cloud computing has become one of the dominant drives in the IT sector in recent months. It's a loose term, but generally it refers to hosting applications that would normally be on your local desktop. It is an Internet-based computing resource, and accessible by a simple web browser.
Frank Gillett, vice president and principal analyst with Forrester Research explains, "If you look at Google Trends, 'cloud computing' came out of nowhere in 2008. People were searching for it in the third quarter of 2007, but it went bonkers in 2008." He continues to say, "2008 is the year that everyone began talking about the cloud, and people felt it was a phrase they needed to know. It became an industry buzzword."
Some proponents of cloud computing, to name a few, are IBM, Dell, Amazon.com, Google, VMware, and Xen. They have all aggressively entered the market, and the potential of this technology to change our business infrastructures while tying multiple physical sites together is very promising, and very exciting.
VMware announced that it is aiming to turn its infrastructure products and technologies into what it's calling a Virtual Data Center Operating System (VDC-OS). Using the data center system, VMware says, businesses will be able to unite servers, storage gear, and other networking resources together into an "on-premise cloud."

Our old website was reluctantly ignored. We tend to put our customers' needs before our own, but we have managed to find the time to spruce up the web site to be a little more appealing!
